Cooking with Friends
Hello friends!
I have many goals for this year and the next chapter of my life. One of them is to try new things and be more social. I knocked both out of the park with this one. I love Thai food and wanted to learn to cook it at home. Richard and I enjoy cooking together. So I just did a random google search looking for Thai cooking classes. I figured I would go somewhere and learn. But what I found was much funner. This amazing married couple comes to your house and brings everything then teaches you and your friends to cook. My first obstacle was I had to have 4-8 people come to my house to do this.
Not a big deal for most people but for some reason I never invite friends or host. I have friends and I am a social person but I have a really hard time letting people get to close or put myself out there. Often when I get invited, I feel overwhelmed and try to think of a reason why I can’t. When I do go I have a good time. So I really want to get out of my comfort zone and build more real friendships. Not knowing how to start I just did a general Facebook post. I basically said I want to take this class who wants to join me…. It did not take more than an hour before I have my 4 that would join me. None of these awesome ladies had ever meet. That of course worried me too. But I figured if they were open I would be too.
We had so much fun and of course the ladies brought wine. We laughed, connected, sipped wine and learned to cook; fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, chicken and coconut soup, green curry with chicken and beef drunken noodles. Everything was so yummy. After we cooked we gathered around my dinning table and had a feast and enjoyed more wine. It was very comfortable and a couple of us stayed up till 1 am chatting then night away. I enjoyed the company of the women so much and it’s silly to say I was proud of myself for putting myself out there. Deepeing friendships and learning a new skill, what could be better than that. Stay tuned this week I am taking a jewelry making class. The journey continues.
